DS Luxury, referred to as DS., commissioned the automotive lifestyle/adventure photographer Christian J Williams to photograph a series of work titled Dripping In Luxury.
The select 10 photographs are to be printed in a limited run to garnish DS.’s headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. A few select prints will also be gifted to a select few members of DS.’s members. DS. is a membership based company operating worldwide offering select experiences to its high profile memberships.
DS. approached Christian J Williams with the concept “Dripping In Luxury”. Knowing they wanted gold to be a theme in the shots, they let Christian J Williams run with the concept and add onto it. The look of the series would convey the luxurious and moody branding of DS. by incorporating a literal dripping look to the vehicle used, accompanied by darker tones.
All the effects were initially supposed to be done practically. The car was to be wrapped gold, and a set design team was to brush wet paint onto the car to produce a dripping effect. Shortly into the pre-production phase, it was determined that the car would be made gold in post-production as well as the slight dripping/wet paint effect.
